I volunteered for the annual Trick or Treat for UNICEF. We dressed up in Halloween costumes and were split up into group to collect donations in different neighborhoods. This year we cumulatively raised $2,357.89.

I always love volunteering with inside books . I was there from 7-10pm.
With some people from my nursing cohort we volunteered at the School of Nursing's Explore UT from 10:30-3:30. We were in charge of some games and activities that they had. Also we answered any questions that the kids had about UT. I would definitely volunteer for this again.
I did volunteered at Inside Books last year, it was still a good experience even though it was crowded this time. More letters could be sent out which was great.
With UNICEF, we were divided into groups to go to different neighborhoods and Trick or Treat for donations. The donations can help provide vaccines, clean water, and clothes for kids. Last year I did this event also, it's really fun and you see how much you can actually make a difference.
We replied to inmates letters that requested books. We packaged 3-4 free books to them and they are allowed to request more books in 3 months. It was interesting reading the letters and learning more about incarcerated people
At this community service we played with the kids and gave them are undivided attention, and also tried to get them to interact with the other children there. It was really fun.
At the beginning we had an orientation and background about the organization. We read inmates letters and based on what information they have us we packed 3-4 books. The weight had to be between 1.1-1.4lbs. It was an interesting experience reading the inmates letters and seeing how much the organization meant to them.
During this community service at the Concho community garden I took out weeds, dug out weeds near the fence to place wood against it, watered plants, and moved some plants. It was a lot of manual labor but it was a good experience.
I am in the SMILE organization and we paired with UNICEF to do their trick or treating event, We were divided into groups of 4 and were assigned a neighborhood around Austin. Instead of trick or treating for candy we were trick or treating for donations towards kids in Africa. At the end of the event my group raised $52.25. It was a good and fun experience that I would love to do again next year
